Price or payout — which number do I type in?

Price or payout?

When you add an item, there is one box for money. Depending on the store, it means one of two things — read the label above the box:

  • Sell price — the price on the website. What the buyer pays.
  • Payout — what lands in your balance. The store adds its fee on top.

  • Both end up at the same place. They just start from opposite ends.

    The same item, both ways

Say the store takes 20 %.

    | You type | Label says | Website price | Your payout | Store fee |
    |---|---|---|---|---|
    | 1 000 | Sell price | 1 000 | **800** | 200 |
    | 800 | Payout | **1 000** | 800 | 200 |

Same shoe, same money, same everything. Only the box you typed into is different.

How do I know which one my store uses?

Look at the label above the box. It says either Sell price or Payout — and under it you always see the other number before you submit, so you can check.

If the numbers look wrong, stop and ask the store. Do not "fix" it by typing a different number.

What if the store charges 21 % VAT?

Then the website price also includes tax, and you still get exactly what the payout box says.

    Example, still 20 % fee:

    | You type as payout | Website price | You get |
    |---|---|---|
    | 800 | **1 210** | 800 |

The extra is VAT, which the store pays to the tax office. It is not taken from you.

    Three things worth knowing

    1. You always get at least what you asked for. If the maths does not come out to a round number, it is rounded in your favour, never against you.

    2. A minimum fee can raise the price. If the store has a minimum fee of, say, 150 CZK and you ask for 400, the website price will be 550 — not 500. The fee has to fit.

    3. Changing the price later works the same way. Whichever box your store shows you, the other number follows automatically.

    Still not sure?

Type your number, look at the second number the form shows you, and check it is what you expect. If it is not, ask the store before you submit — they hold your items and they are the only ones who can answer about them.
